Starbucks opens in Padua. The American roasting and coffee giant has chosen the old Deutsche Bank building, in Piazza delle Erbe, as the location for the new store to welcome Paduans and tourists from the end of May to the beginning of June. As reported by Il Mattino di Padova, in fact, work has begun on the location, which will be completed within approximately sixty days, in time for the start of the new summer season. The Starbucks in Padua is the second in the whole of Veneto, another is already present in Veronaand precedes the opening of the third café in the region scheduled for next October in Venice.

The Starbucks in Padua it will displace up two floors for a total surface area of approximately 130 square metres, the decor is the classic one of all Starbucks coffee shops in the world. The drink offering remains the same as in each coffee shop in the chain, with the focus on the different versions of coffee: espresso, filter, cold, cappuccino, up to other drinks such as lemonade, tea, matcha. The gastronomic offer also follows the menu of every Starbucks: sandwiches, sandwiches, croissants, cookies and much more.
The curiosity of this new opening lies not so much in the surprise of seeing a second Starbucks in Veneto, but in its location: the store’s location is less than two hundred meters from Caffè Pedrocchi, the “Cafe without doors”, the city’s historic café dating back to 1800 and a destination for tourists, and not only, and which today also hosts the Museum of the Risorgimento and the Contemporary Age. The competition between the two cafés is not direct, if you think about the diversity of gastronomic and drink offerings, yet we think about how it could change the way of having breakfast in the historic square of Padua.

When the first Italian Starbucks in Milan, the giant of American coffee shops has kept its promise: to always expand in our country. Now the expansion is taking place in Veneto, but just over a month ago it opened in Bologna, without talking about the “crowding” of stores in Lombardy – there are almost twenty – and the expansion it has also had in Lazio, with four restaurant points in Rome alone.
