Rome, 4 April 2024 – The events organized by Assarmatori, a shipping association which is a member of, continue Conftrasporto-Confcommercio which represents Italian, European Union and third-country shipowners who operate maritime services in Italy, aimed at helping young people rediscover, especially, a tough but fascinating profession, ancient but modern at the same time, providing them with certain answers and encouraging meeting with those who have already undertaken a career in the sea.
The second stage of the specifics Career Dayafter the appointment in Livorno, will therefore be in Thours of the Greek, where the Association, in collaboration with the Stecca incubator and with the patronage of the Municipality of Torre del Greco, will have the task of promoting the many opportunities offered by the maritime sector to students, but also to workers looking for employment.
Monday 8 April, at 10.30 am, in the council chamber of Town Hall of Torre del Greco (Baronial Palace, Piazza del Plebiscito) the press conference to present the Career Day which will be staged on Friday 12 April, from 9.00 to 13.00, in the headquarters of the Stecca incubator (Ex Molini Marzoli area, via Calastro – Torre del Greco).
Students from various secondary schools are expected at the event together with all those interested in starting a working career on board ships who, on this occasion, will be able to meet and talk with representatives of shipping companies.
“For a long time now – he comments Giovanni Consoli, Deputy General Secretary of Assarmatori – the shipping industry is struggling with a shortage of maritime personnel which has taken on emergency features, particularly during the summer season. For this reason, even downstream of the Interministerial Decree of last November which allocated important economic resources for the training of new professionals by companies, we intended to organize various moments in which job supply and demand meet, putting students in contact with maritime transport companies. But not only that, precisely to demonstrate how attractive and advantageous a career at sea can be, we have planned meetings not only with the managers of the companies, but above all with those workers who live on board every day. The initiative is aimed mainly at students, but is also open to those looking for a new job after losing their own and for this reason we have also started a collaboration with the Employment Centres.
