A request for a heavy sentence, that of 20 years in prison formulated by the prosecutors of Palermo, Gianluca De Leo and Pierangelo Padova, for Rosalia Messina Denaro, sister of the godfather of Castelvetrano Matteo, accused of aggravated mafia association and receiving stolen goods and on trial with the abbreviated trial . From the investigations – coordinated by the prosecutor Maurizio de Lucia, by the deputy Paolo Guido and by the deputies Padova and De Leo – the relevant figure of Rosalia emerges, as her brother’s “alter ego”: she is the keeper of her secrets. But it is from her that the investigations that will lead to the arrest of the boss begin.

In fact, in his house the Ros, having entered to place some bugs, found some notes containing, among other things, the clinical condition of Messina Denaro and the discovery of his serious illness. A mistake that will cost the freedom of his brother, who ended up in handcuffs on 16 January 2023 and subsequently also of Rosalia herself, one of the sisters of the boss who died in prison on 25 September. Rosalia, the godfather’s older sister, was arrested in March 2023, a few weeks after the blitz in which the former fugitive was surprised and arrested by the ROS at the La Maddalena clinic in Palermo, where she was to undergo anti-cancer treatment.
