April 27 – 10.52pm – FLORENCE

Champion of Italy. For the sixth consecutive time, the seventh in the history of the club, the Prosecco Doc Imoco Conegliano wins the tricolour. And he does so by completing the Italian treble around Italy: Super Cup won in Livorno by beating Milan, Italian Cup won in Trieste by repeating the success over Egonu and his teammates and this evening the scudetto at the PalaWanny in Florence in front of 3,500 spectators.

SCANDICCI-CONEGLIANO 1-3 (25-23, 17-25, 17-25, 21-25)

In game 4 the Italian champions suffered Scandicci’s full start, lost the 1st set, but raised their heads again and, led by Haak, triumphed 3-1. Conegliano confirms itself as a club capable of dominating in Italy: 15th consecutive title (5 league titles, 5 Italian Cups, 5 Super Cups), it has not lost in our country since the Italian Cup in February 2019 in Verona. Now to complete the perfect season the appointment is for May 5th in Antalya (Turkey) for the Champions League final against Paola Egonu’s Vero Volley.

the match

Scandicci starts well, riding all the energy of Antropova (7 points in the 1st set) while Conegliano is surprised by the rocket start of Barbolini’s team. The coach from Modena invents the serve change Diop for Zhu and the left-handed player repays the coach’s trust with a first push in the set (from 18-18 to 20-18). Imoco has the strength to come back but in the final point to point they resolve an ace from Carol. The girls from Conegliano are wounded panthers and they react to the change of court by creating the break with Lubian’s turn to serve (2 aces). The partial closed 25-17 Wolosz and her teammates never let go again and even in the 3rd set they left no room for Savino del Bene who, after going ahead 7-5, gradually succumbed to the blows of Plummer (6 in the partial ) and Conegliano’s ability to win all the long rallies by relying on the talent of Haak (13 points in the 3rd set). Last set led with a margin by Imoco (15-10 maximum advantage) before suffering Scandicci’s last desperate return (20-20 block on Robinson). But the Venetians see the finish line and restart with Plummer. The last championship point is an error on Antropova’s serve.
