The passing of Luciano Ortelli, legendary wrestling champion with eleven national titles and participant in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics, has cast a shadow of sadness over the sports community of Latina and beyond. Ortelli was not only an exceptional athlete, but also a man who faced life’s challenges with courage and determination. Born in Naples in ’56, Ortelli had to overcome many difficulties since his childhood. Raised by his mother, a young widow, along with his four brothers, he learned the value of hard work and perseverance. His Neapolitan roots and his life path have profoundly influenced his career and his personality.
After moving to Latina in 1978, Ortelli began chasing his dream of becoming a wrestling champion. With passion and dedication, he has won eleven national titles, becoming a point of reference for the local sporting community and for Italy.
