Zanacchi: “Cremona is doing a lot to promote sport and disability”

Sports councilor Luca Zanacchi intervenes after the statements that emerged during the meeting on sport and disability organized on Saturday by Forza Italia and the mayoral candidate Alessandro Portesani.

“Questions arise about how much the centre-right mayoral candidate knows the city and the many activities that have also developed in the sporting field over time,” says Zanacchi. “It is increasingly clear that ‘News in Cremona’ for Portesani is actually ‘Cremona is new’. The city has a long tradition of inclusive activities and over time the Administration has structured various projects to support them.

“The latest in chronological order was “Sports diversity” which saw the structuring and economic support of Paralympic activities in various sports and which attracted dozens of new athletes. The many sports organizations involved know this very well and, coincidentally, were not present at the conference or even at the meeting a few days earlier in the Zanoni room”

“Zanacchi then mentions the Amputee Football Super Cup and the Paralympic bowls event (“event from which the sporting activities now practiced also by one of its candidates were born”).

“Let us make our own – continues Zanacchi – the frustration of those who over time have become protagonists of many activities in favor of disabilities, of the sports associations that have always worked with the Administration and of the many volunteers who today feel offended by Portesani’s words” .

The sports delegate of the Galimberti Council then defines as “amazing and crazy” the idea of building a new arena in the Tamoil area “proposed by one of his (Portesani’s, ed.) candidates”.

“Portesani – is the conclusion – is a ‘former’ social entrepreneur who, while promising welfare reforms and sports inclusion, is supported by a party which is running for the European elections with a person who supports the separation of disabled people from the “able-bodied” ones… oddities and bizarre things of a center-right that is confused, disoriented, divided and little aware of what has been achieved in our city over time. We remain close to sporting realities and to those who have worked over time in favor of real inclusion. We will continue to work with them to improve services and to involve more and more citizens in sporting activities.”
