she would have died of electrocution and the fire last night in via Umberto Giordano in Palermo would have originated from that fatal accident.
The reconstruction is still partial but the affair seems destined to be classified as a terrible domestic accident. A woman, Maria Uliana, 86, was found dead by the firefighters, who had managed to enter the house to put out the fire that broke out around 7.30pm yesterday Thursday 28 March. The woman would have died of electrocution, and the shock would then have caused the fire. The old woman, therefore, would not have been killed by the smoke and flames. Firefighters found the woman’s body, burned, after the flames had been put out.
Palace was not evacuated
In addition to the firefighters, the carabinieri, police officers and 118 health workers also intervened. The road remained closed for hours, causing great alarm in the neighborhood but in the end it was not necessary to evacuate the building and traffic was restored even though the traces of the fire are clearly visible.
The firefighters are still working on the clean-up operations while investigations have also begun to verify the theory of the electrical fault which is the basis of the electrocution of the victim and the fire.
The fire in Bagheria
A few days ago a fire broke out between via Maresciallo Aiello and via Parisi on land located near The Bagh shopping center in Bagheria. The firefighters have not yet completely put out the fire.
A sort of open-air landfill went up in flames where furniture, ferrous material and waste of all sorts were piled up. Several fire brigade teams intervened along with the carabinieri and police officers.
A thick column of smoke rose in the area. Thanks to the intervention of the firefighters, the flames did not spread to the building that houses the shopping centre, stopping at the edge of the car park. Investigations are underway to ascertain the causes of the fire which appears almost certainly arson.
