Hope and rebirth in the Easter message of Mons. Caiazzo
On the eve of the celebration of Holy Easter 2024, Monsignor Antonio Giuseppe Caiazzo, spiritual guide of the Diocese of Matera-Irsina and Bishop of Matera, shared a touching message of hope and rebirth. Addressing the faithful through a video message, the Archbishop emphasized the profound meaning of Easter as a symbol of the triumph of life over death, in a historical period marked by profound challenges and tensions.
Monsignor Caiazzo underlined how, in the current context, a struggle emerges between the denial and the affirmation of life, highlighted by global conflicts and injustices. He cited contempt for life as a prevalent phenomenon, which manifests a lack of love, acceptance, assistance and support towards others.
In his message, the Archbishop referred to the figure of Mary Magdalene, witness to the confrontation between death and life, with the resurrection of Jesus as the culmination of this confrontation. He recalled how Jesus offered words of salvation and liberation to all the people he met, despite suffering and adversity.
In conclusion, Mons. Caiazzo invoked a new humanity founded on love, brotherhood and peace, encouraging the faithful not to lose hope. The Easter message thus becomes an invitation to reflect on the power of the resurrection and the ability to overcome difficulties, with faith in a future of renewal and hope.
