THE EAGLE. The CGIL celebrates May Day also thinking about the future of Gran Sasso. The “Caravan of Rights” will move through the provincial territory on Wednesday, starting with a flash mob right in Fonte Cerreto, where the cable car will now be stopped for the works to replace the 4 load-bearing cables, imposed by Ansfisa, the National Agency for the safety of railways and road and motorway infrastructures. Meanwhile, yesterday the Province reopened the road to Campo Imperatore, after the recent snowfalls: at the end of April the spectacle of the route up to an altitude of 2,100 meters between two walls of snow will be repeated.
THE CARAVAN OF RIGHTS
The CGIL of the province of L’Aquila celebrates Workers’ Day by bringing its “Caravan of Rights” throughout the provincial territory, ideally uniting the territories on the theme of peace, work and social justice. «It will be an opportunity to make, together with workers», they write from the union’s provincial secretariat, «a reflection on the conditions of work and non-work in our province. We will start early from a symbolic place, collecting the difficulties that workers encounter when work is irresponsibly not taken care of. At 8.30 we will be at Fonte Cerreto to symbolically and concretely give our solidarity and attention to that world of the mountains which from next May 1st will suffer the impossibility of using the Gran Sasso cable car, with what this may result in terms of loss of employment and salary, risking compromising the tourism system of our mountains”. The Band Concert of the City of Paganica will conclude on flash mob of Fonte Cerreto.
THE OTHER STAGES
At 10.30 on May 1st the CGIL celebrations will move to Luco dei Marsi, «where for a long tradition the feast of workers is celebrated in Piazza Umberto I, with an eye towards the peasant struggles for emancipation and redemption that is still relevant today and provides us with an example to imagine the future.” It closes in Sulmona at 5pm: «It will be an opportunity», the union underlines, «to reflect on the condition of that area of our provincial territory which, more markedly than elsewhere, is today afflicted by the evils of all the internal areas of our province. Depletion of the industrial fabric, depopulation, lack of services and environmental aggression. The initiative will end in Piazza XX Settembre in Sulmona with music and songs from the world of work curated by Michele Avolio. We thank the Municipality of Sulmona for its patronage of the initiative. It will be an intense day and we hope full of ideas and reflections on the conditions of work in our province. Long live the workers’ party, long live the CGIL”, they conclude.
THE CABLE CAR STOPS
The cable car will be stopped in two days, as established in the provisional authorization signed last January 11th by Ansfisa, after a complaint in which critical issues were hypothesized on one of the cables, without certainty about the date of reopening to the public. The Municipality, after having approved the replacement of the ropes, foreseeing the raising of 4 million euros within the administration surplus, gave the green light to the market investigation for the preparation of the project, which will cost around 200 thousand euros. In the meantime, the organization has also appealed to the Council of State, against the TAR ruling which confirmed the need for the intervention in advance of 2028.
