Almost six years after the tragedy of the Morandi Bridge, which on 14 August 2018 in Genoa caused the death of 43 people, it seems that the institutions have completely forgotten the promises of controls and verifications. At the time the former president of the Sicilian Region, Nello Musumeci, now minister for Civil Protection, had announced the checks and inspections for 1900 Sicilian bridges and viaducts.
What happened to those checks and above all, after reports of the critical issues identified, were the necessary interventions carried out? As usual, looking at the conditions of the bridge over the Palermo Sciacca, one might think that everything has gone into oblivion and that, as always, when politics is involved, not everything was done as it should have been, to the detriment of safety of the Sicilians.
