Mayor D’Alberto explained that important problems were encountered during construction

LISTEN TO THE MAYOR D’ALBERTO

Work has restarted on Piazza Garibaldi in Teramo, after a prolonged stop due to some problems encountered during construction, which postponed the end of the construction site by several months. From before the end of summer 2023, to the end of September 2023, up to today which are still ongoing. Mayor D’Alberto in this morning’s press conference first of all made amends with the citizens: “We understand the inconvenience caused so far but we must clarify some aspects. With the variant appraisal and the forecast of a further million euros, we have resolved issues of fundamental importance which effectively blocked the works, for example the problem of the severely damaged systems for which maintenance was not enough but in this way we will have a definitive arrangement of the area , also because we have inserted real improvements. There will be a glass window that will connect the square to the hypogeum, then the lighting, the water jets that will return compatible with the structure”. The other two lots of the project are also planned, for which the extraordinary commissioner has been asked to integrate the financing. In case of failure to integrate, the municipality will provide at its own expense. However, the mayor remains unbalanced regarding the timing: “Let’s say that we will try to complete everything as soon as possible”, setting the month of September as the unofficial deadline.
