Woman stopped by the Carabinieri during an escape attempt
The Carabinieri of the Radiomobile Section of Lecce arrested a 44-year-old woman of Albanian origin for theft in an apartment in the city. The arrest took place yesterday afternoon, after the woman was surprised inside a garage of a private residence.
A report to the emergency number 112 NUE allowed the military to intervene promptly. The call reported a woman, described in detail, rummaging inside the garage. The Carabinieri quickly arrived on the scene and located the suspect who, upon seeing them, attempted to flee towards the nearby railway yard, without success.
During the personal search, the woman was found in possession of objects of various kinds, identified as property of the complainant, who claimed ownership of them. The items were returned to their rightful owner.
At the disposal of the Public Prosecutor on duty at the Public Prosecutor’s Office of Lecce, who is conducting the investigations, the woman was taken to the Lecce Prison, where she will remain awaiting further judicial proceedings.
