5.6 million euros are arriving for Ancona from the Marche Region for Territorial Investments (ITI) from the European Regional Development Fund and the European Social Fund+. “An important commitment on the part of the Marche Region intended for the provincial capitals – states the mayor Daniele Silvetti – for a strategic position of Ancona which allows it to enter into coordination with other municipalities in the Conero. We are linking Ancona more and more to the Conero brand for the relaunch strategic position of the city. The great Ancona also passes through a city that looks to tourism”. The mayor is keen to point out that “Simonella, when I was still president of the Conero Park, proposed to me a common plan to extend this project for the ITI funds to the Conero and the other municipalities of the Conero. It all started from there”. In July 2023, the council of the Municipality of Ancona had identified the Portonovo eco-cluster as an “area with high development potential, in which to focus a series of valorization investments in a sustainable and shared key”. The strategy involves the recovery and redevelopment of the former Mutilatini as an accommodation facility for sustainable tourism and environmental education. “This further important budget – continues Silvetti – allows us to be able to use an artefact very dear to the people of Ancona and restore its functionality to the territory as we promised in the election campaign”. The mayor then specified that the multifunctional structure will have a space intended for a high quality hostel which in the winter months will be a guesthouse for research activities with the University and Conero Park. There will be a meeting room for information activities that can be used for initiatives and conferences, a space for the tourist promotion of the area and its food and wine products and an environmental education centre. It will be the Park House – underlined the mayor – The structure will be managed together with the adjacent campsite which needs significant maintenance work”.

In addition to the total recovery of the former Mutilatini, the Portonovo ITI also provides for the creation of the pedestrian path for the descent and for inclusive accessibility to the bay. A long-planned project that Silvetti supports with determination like the Park Gate, also included in the Strategy, a project started when he was president of the Conero Park and which will now be implemented with the installation of a “hub for valorisation and tourist information to support sustainable mobility in the municipalities of the Park for the strengthening and development of the Conero tourism brand” and the “Conero inclusive hub” intended for minors, disabled people and the elderly.

The “Gate” made up of vertical elements useful for raising awareness among citizens and tourists will be located in Pietralacroce, where there is currently a bus stop, with a small information infrastructure, an energy supply point, a clearly visible and pleasant platform , all usable independently. For the presentation of the Strategy, the Urban Area was established with the Municipalities of Camerano, Numana, Sirolo and the local partnership was established with the Conero Park Authority, SABAP Marche, and the Polytechnic University of Marche.
