Fiorentina wins, wins by a landslide, 5-1 against Sassuolo and takes Napoli to eighth place in the standings, with the Viola having to recover the match against Atalanta. A match where the result says everything, with Fiorentina dominating the pitch from start to finish. And Sassuolo’s deficit could have been even greater if the Viola had been more precise. Italiano is forced to use the strengths of his players, also in view of the first leg of the Conference League semi-final on Thursday at the Franchi against Bruges, and for this reason he decides to give space from the first minute to goalkeeper Christensen, and to Parisi, Arthur and Barak, while must give up the injured Mandragora and the unavailable Nzola. Sassuolo, increasingly embroiled in the fight to avoid relegation, has to deal with absences: the already injured Berardi and Castillejo have been joined by Defrel, who was injured yesterday due to a muscle problem. Three minutes of play and Fiorentina immediately came close to taking the lead with a corner taken by Duncan who shot directly towards goal but was blocked in the air by Consigli which denied him the goal. As expected, the Viola play the game, while Sassuolo tries to be dangerous on the counterattack. In the 15th minute Fiorentina came close to scoring again: Sottil went down the right well, entered the area and placed the ball in the center for the onrushing Kouame who tried to slide in but arrived a moment late.

But it’s only a matter of seconds, because in the 17th minute Fiorentina takes the lead: Sottil receives the ball at the top corner, takes center stage, bypassing two players, and directs the ball to the bottom corner to the left of Consigli. Fiorentina continues to press on the accelerator, looking for the second goal without taking risks in the defensive phase. In the 28th minute Viola came close to doubling their lead with a solitary action by Parisi who freed two opponents on the right and then looked diagonally for the top corner, but the ball hit the crossbar and ended up in a lateral foul. Barak (43′) also tries with a diagonal shot from short distance. At the start of the second half, Italiano left Ikone in the locker room and brought in Nico Gonzalez, while on the other side Ballardini decided to replace Viti and Volpato with Mulattieri and Bajrami. And the Argentine (54′) tries to surprise Consigli with a spinning shot which however manages to deflect it into a corner. And on the development of the corner (55′) ball backwards for Arthur who dishes the ball inside the Sassuolo area where Martinez Quarta jumps higher than anyone and beats Consigli with a header. Nice celebration from the purple captain who shows the shirt with the image of Joe Barone and kisses it. The match, however, is not over because in the 57th minute Sassuolo closes the gap with Thorstvedt who scores with a sharp diagonal. But the ball was in the center and Fiorentina scored again: cross from the left by Parisi inside the small area where Nico Gonzalez freed himself from the marking and dived to beat Consigli.

Three goals in four minutes to the delight of the 22,575 spectators present. Barak didn’t want to miss out on the goal festival, however: Sottil (62′) serves him inside the area and he beats the Sassuolo goalkeeper with a diagonal low shot from right to left. Fiorentina, however, has no intention of stopping and in the 65th minute they find their fifth goal with an action by Barak-Gonzalez with the Argentine who once again beats Consigli from a central position outside the area. The round of substitutions then continues with Kouame and Quarta being replaced in Fiorentina by Belotti and Comuzzo, while in Sassuolo Boloca and Ceide enter. And in the final, among the Viola, there was also room for the former Maxime Lopez in place of Arthur and Castrovilli for Sottil.
