We are happy to inform you that the intense and exciting film “INSHALLAH A BOY” by the Jordanian director Amjad Al Rasheed FROM THURSDAY 28 MARCH will finally be shown in ANCONA, at the CINEMA AZZURRO.

Nominated for an Oscar for Jordan, winner of numerous significant awards at festivals around the world, the film has already won over the international public and press who have defined it as “the hidden gem of the Cannes Film Festival”, “a very powerful film”. superbly written that gets under your skin”, “a symbolic and shocking female portrait that leaves its mark”.

INSHALLAH A BOY tells the story of Nawal, a young wife and mother from Amman who, suddenly widowed, finds herself fighting with her late husband’s family for her inheritance and to protect her home and the fate of her girl. With little time available to find a solution, Nawal must face not only personal challenges but also cultural ones rooted in her country, overcoming her fears, beliefs and morality to question a society where having a male child changes the rules of the game and seems to be the only protection for a woman.

With a compelling and pressing style, director Amjad Al Rasheed debuts on the big screen with a courageous and fascinating film that reflects on the theme of female emancipation starting from the concept of property, a right considered by Sharia laws to be an exclusively male domain and which prevents women from having inheritance rights.

Making use of the extraordinary performance of Mouna Hawa, a young Palestinian actress engaged in the heartbreaking and very human role of the protagonist Nawal and creating a realistic and compelling fictional film package, Amjad Al Rasheed gives us a portrait of contemporary Amman which contributes to consolidating the new attention and emerging global solidarity towards women’s rights in patriarchal regimes.

We are waiting for you in the room to become passionate, like us, about the events of Nawal in this important and engaging film whose atmosphere you can discover through the trailer that you will find at this link:
