The ANPI of the Province of Reggio Calabria has joined the appeal of the Workshop number 8-Casa del Popolo “Valarioti” to promote and participate in this great democratic mobilization for May 1st 2024 in Rosarno. We invite our members to meet in Rosarno in Piazza Valarioti to join us together in a great day of celebration with three urgent and mandatory watchwords: peace, land, work. Because this was a territory of great struggles for ethical work and fair progress, against the ‘ndrangheta, and we feel like children of that history written, among others, also by Peppe Valarioti, who was among the first to fight for alongside the young unemployed. First in the Employment Leagues, then in the “285” committees that were born after the mid-1970s to address an already very serious southern issue. To claim the rights of all workers, of precarious workers, of those who don’t have work, of young people forced to abandon their land, of today’s laborers, of our farmers. A day against the ‘ndrangheta and all the mafias, in which Peppino Impastato’s niece, Luisa Impastato, will also participate. A day against all wars, armed conflicts and the massacre of the Palestinian people. The ANPI Metropolitan Area Reggio Calabria will take the opportunity to relaunch the essential value of PEACE in the world.
We will also be present from 3pm in Piazza Valarioti, where at 3.30pm we will leave in procession through the streets of Rosarno, to then conclude in Piazza Valarioti with an open assembly, a square that will see stands, artists and musicians alternating on a stage between music and words.
