The twentieth-century residence of Baron Gamba becomes the setting for an initiatory journey that spreads from bottom to top, through the three floors of the building.
Sophie-Anne Herin returns to explore complex themes through an introspective journey full of contaminations between photography and installation. Between dog and wolf, or between the light of day and the darkness of night, the threads of a suspended time unravel, full of disturbing images that draw on a substrate of archetypes.
It is the moment of twilight, where borders dematerialize. The photographer found in the Envers the very symbol of the crossing of this geographical and mythical border. This is the name given to the shaded side of the mountain, rich in woods, which is not illuminated by the sun for long winter months.
The first floor of the Gamba Castle is populated with landscapes, animals and people that come from Envers itself: each image is a story that emerges from the darkness thanks to a very pictorial work played on contrasts of light.
On the second floor we walk along the paths of imagination, desire and senses, arriving among sidereal spaces. Here we admire galaxies, maps and luminescent trails, small nomadic lights, fluorescence of fireflies captured by the “third eye” of the photographic lens. Nocturnal, vibrant and effervescent creatures.
Going further up, we access the dream, and the rich dream activity that belongs to the author.
