We waited with great anxiety and enthusiasm for the new corporate act of the Salerno ASL to be made public and we are also satisfied in principle with what it contains.
We citizens of Scafati were first and foremost interested in knowing whether or not the new general orientation finally included our city in the emergency network, as it has always been and until its closure at the hands of the ex-President of the Caldoro Region.
As things stand now Scafati will have the emergency room again, this is now black and white. The intention of the ASL is there and around 4.5 million have also been allocated by the Region to proceed.
It’s a shame that with this money they will only change the light bulbs and paint the walls, but perhaps not even that since first we need to proceed with the necessary and preparatory seismic adaptation, which means “TEMPORARY” CLOSURE FOR WORKS which in our area
it can also mean an ultimate catastrophe.
The politics of Palazzo Santa Lucia at this point seem to have staged a great number of magic and we appreciate their good intentions but for us of the Italian Left it is not enough, because what was presented yesterday with the single corporate act of the ASL it is nothing more than an intention, a will to direct, nothing more.
The facts we expect, however, are something else, specifically citizens expect concrete answers that no one is able to give either today or tomorrow, for many reasons of course, because the matter is very complex and detailed, but also and especially because the regional policy on the right to
health has given ample demonstration of not being capable and what we see before our eyes in the city and in the entire region is its complete failure.
This is demonstrated by the fact that doctors cannot be found despite the funds and competitions, that no one wants to work in our hospital facilities, indeed those who want (rightly) to undertake a dignified career flee from Scafati, in search of facilities that have a concrete future and not just about talking.
We repeat loudly that we are extremely happy with the future direction of the Mauro Scarlato Hospital in Scafati, but we are no longer willing to be victims of political games, it is no longer acceptable to witness the sad theater put on by some regional councilor and the mayor of
our city who use the dramatic issue of the Scafati hospital only for electoral and propaganda purposes. While the push and pull continues in view of the 2025 regional elections in Scafati there are people dying due to lack of help and it is UNACCEPTABLE other than chatter from live social media.
We immediately hope for a technical working table for the restoration of first aid activity in the city, the reopening of the clinics and laboratories that are already there to put them at the emergency service. A rebalancing of the economic and personnel resources of the entire DEA of reference (Nocera Inferiore/Pagani/Scafati) so that in our city, while waiting for miracles, we work to have a place where we can offer an initial healthcare intervention, easing the Another emergency room in Nocera Inferiore is collapsing. It is no longer tolerable that for a slight illness or for 2 stitches a citizen of Scafati has to go to Nocera Inferiore and wait several
hours before being visited by someone.
The limit is full and no citizen wants to be treated like an animal anymore, health is not a pleasure that Pasquale Aliberti or Franco Picarone gives us, it is our right and the facts instead bring us back to a dramatic scenario that will only get worse with the constitutional reform on differentiated autonomy.
We were waiting for good news and it has arrived, but unfortunately the bad news is far more numerous.
