(ANSA) – NAPLES, MARCH 28 – “Ilaria Salis is free now”. This is the banner with which a group of exponents of movements from Naples stand in solidarity with the young Italian woman on trial in Hungary and who was denied house arrest today in Budapest. “Even from Naples – explains Alfonso De Vito, one of the organizers of the demonstration in Largo Berlinguer, in the center of the city – we want to send strong support to Ilaria, asking for her release.

Ilaria has been in prison for too long now, in humiliating conditions for the sole crime of being an anti-fascist and of being one at this moment in a country governed by the right”. “We have all read Ilaria’s letter, in which she talks about the perception of having fallen into a very deep well – adds De Vito -, but with the conviction of being on the right side of history. We have all read, except evidently the Italian government, which, confirming that it is a far-right government, is essentially washing its hands of it. Therefore it is essential that in all cities, as has begun successfully in Milan and Rome, there are initiatives that keep this situation alive and that support the right of Ilaria, an anti-fascist and anti-racist teacher, to be free and to return home”.
