Umbria on accessibility: and San Francesco airport connections

The Umbria Region has outlined a path ambitious to improve accessibility to San Francesco Airport. This project, which involves the implementation of new rail and road connections, as well as the offer of increasingly efficient services for citizens, was announced by the group leader of the Umbria League, Stefano Pastorelli.

The project, how confirmed by the regional councilor Enrico Melasecche, it is already ready to be started. It fits into a broader vision, focused on the growth of the territory and the desire to overcome the isolation to which the region has been relegated for too many years.

Among the most initiatives significant, the construction of the railway station connecting to Collestrada stands out. This new infrastructure will mainly serve San Francesco Airport, making it even more accessible for everyone. But not only that: the Collestrada station will become an intermodal exchange hub, where citizens will be able to leave their cars in an expanded car park that will have almost 2 thousand spaces, and reach the Umbrian port in just ten minutes.

The project is part of a Square broader overall set of interventions, which also includes the construction of the new Ellera station with double track and departure and arrival point for the surface metro connected to the Fontivegge, Ponte San Giovanni and Collestrada stations. The Assisi station will also be affected by an overall reorganization, in order to speed up maneuvers for the intersections on the Foligno-Terontola and obtain benefits in terms of travel times to and from Florence.

These initiatives represent a step important for Umbria, which aims to become increasingly accessible and attractive, offering its citizens increasingly efficient development and mobility opportunities.
