Viterbo: intervention by the state police and Carabinieri for a fight in the historic center, 3 arrests and 4 complaints

NewTuscia – VITTERBO – In respect of the rights of the persons under investigation and the presumption of innocence, as far as is currently known, subject to further investigation and pending judgement, the following is communicated.

Late yesterday afternoon, personnel of the State Police of the Flying Squad of the General Prevention and Public Rescue Office of the Viterbo Police Headquarters, together with soldiers of the Radiomobile Operations Unit of the Carabinieri Company of Viterbo, arrested 3 people for aggravated brawling: two Italians aged 35 and 46 and a 33-year-old of Afghan nationality, all criminals who, in the circumstance, suffered injuries judged curable with a prognosis of between 3 and 7 days.

One of the Italians was also charged with the crime of attempted murder for having deliberately tried to run over the foreigner with his car, which had been seized. The operators had intervened in Martyrs’ Square of Hungary following a violent brawl that broke out for trivial reasons between two families.

A baseball bat and a hammer presumably used during the brawl were found and seized on site. A minor and three other people were reported at liberty to the judicial authorities.

Those arrested were placed under house arrest at the disposal of the prosecuting judicial authority. Further investigations are underway by the State Police and the Carabinieri to reconstruct the dynamics of the criminal event, also through the acquisition of testimonies and the viewing of the images recorded by the video surveillance cameras present.
