Descriptive text here

PAVIA. The story of three women and how they abandon a poor life in southern Italy to climb the world of the 19th century star system in the north in the great opera theatres.

It’s the trace of Belcanto, a Rai and Lucky Red series whose scenes are being shot at Brescia and that they will arrive at Pavia in May, at least that’s the expected date for now.

Tomorrow, starting from 10.30 am, the casting is set for select extras and protagonists of small roles.

Being a costume drama – we are looking for adults (therefore, minimum age 18) up to 60 years old, both women and men. The selection manager explains, Simonetta Miccoli: «We are looking for extras to impersonate nobles and commoners, soldiers and servants. So classically no to double cuts, no shades, but medium and long hair. Mustaches, sideburns and moustaches are welcome. No to colors or bob cuts for women.”

It will be a photo castingso after the explanation of the work to which the extras will be called, there will be no filmed tests, but only photographs taken.

L’University of Pavia willingly (and free of charge) made the spaces available for the selections and – subsequently – to shoot some scenes. «We are sets of important productions – he says Federica Villa, Cinema teacher – this happens because we are good at maintaining relationships. Then there is the desire of the rector Svelto for it to be filmed inside the university, obviously with respect for the teaching activities. After the Sky production “They Killed Spider-Man, the true story of the 883″, this one from Rai and Lucky Red arrives a few months later for a costume series”.

Production started from the south, from Naples. The director is Carmine Elia (“Mare Fuori” – first and second season, “Don Matteo” – fifth season and, more recently “We are legend”). The leading actress is Victoria Puccinilaunched several years ago in costume roles in “Elisa di Rivombrosa”, since then (2003) protagonist of many series, miniseries and films.

The series tells – as communicated by the Rai press office – the story of Maria (Vittoria Puccini) and her daughters Antonia (Caterina Ferioli) and Carolina (Adriana Savarese). Graceful and gifted with an extraordinary voice the first, wild and rebellious the second, the sisters are unaware of a great secret of her mother. They flee Naples to free themselves from the oppression of Maria’s violent husband, Iginio (Antonio Gerardi), chasing the dream of Milan and one of the most important opera houses in Italy: the Teatro alla Scala.

Being admitted to the temple of opera is not for everyone and, while Maria dedicates herself to making her first-born Antonia discover the world, it will be Carolina’s voice that attracts the attention of the famous singing teacher Crescenzi (Vincenzo Ferrera). Thus the protagonists, chasing their dreams and passions, will betray, suffer, suffer low blows, face ruthless enemies. They will love to discover that love hurts, they will fall and get back on their feet.
