Yamaha has made a strong decision, and is ready to introduce a sensational innovation. Let’s see what it is.

The world of two wheels is also starting to reveal great innovations to the world on the technological front, and is getting ever closer to that of cars. Yamaha has just revealed something that is nothing short of revolutionarywhich as we will see, could seriously change the way we ride, increasing convenience and riding comfort.

Yamaha changes everything (Yamaha) – Motomondiale.it

This is a solution that has already been partly discussed, since Honda had unveiled the new E-Clutch at Eicma last year, i.e. an electro-assisted clutch, which aims to simplify the work of the DCT gearbox. Well, Yamaha has now filed a patent which concerns an even more revolutionary solution, of which it is worth delving into every aspect in greater depth. Here are all the details.

Yamaha, here is the patent for the new gearbox

There Hondawith its E-Clutch solution, gives those in the saddle the possibility of choosing whether to use the clutch manually or automatically, with Yamaha apparently inspired by this ideaas well explained on the website “Motociclismo.it“. According to what has emerged, the Iwata company has just filed a patent in which it explains a truly interesting innovation, which will take on revolutionary contours for the two-wheel sector.

Yamaha MT-07 (Yamaha) – Motomondiale.it

The concept could become the great rival of Honda’s, although there are notable differences between the two systems. In essence, the Yamaha project eliminates the clutch and gear levers, replacing them with two buttons positioned on the handlebars. Their purpose? That of engaging and changing gears, and it is clear that doing so with a button is much more immediate and practical than the classic concept of the lever.

It must be said that, speaking of Yamaha, this is not a total starting point, since something similar had already been tested some time ago. In particular, a system was created that automated the task performed by the clutch and gearboxon the FJR1300.

To do this, electric actuators were used, but it is clear that, with today’s technologies, the system can be much less “raw” and able to be used on the majority of series models, forcing the competition to adapt too. , or at least try to do so.

The aforementioned source also disclosed the functioning of this system, which is judged to be rather simple and immediate. The two electric actuators are proposed above the transmission, with the one on the left taking care of operating the gearbox, while the one on the right takes care of the clutch.

Furthermore, it is likely that the system can be managed completely automatically, without the driver having to press the buttons. We will see if and when it will be made available, with the patent concerning the MT-07 model. Fans are eagerly waiting.
