If we want to summarize what is happening in the city in a few pieces of news, we just need to focus on what is happening to our healthcare.
The dramatic news continues regarding a totally devastated hospital network, and in particular ambulances that continue to carry out operations without doctors, with all that this entails.
The Spoke of Corigliano-Rossano is at an all-time low, it has never been so inefficient, with the exception of a few departments in which, coincidentally, the Mayor was interested in recent years (see cardiology), while the Covid department was dismantled without realizing the Pneumology department foreseen in the resolution, all in favor of private healthcare.
Speaking of private healthcare, ADI, Integrated Home Care, has also been the subject of privatization with over 3 million entrusted to a well-known private company in the area.
The construction site of the new hospital, despite yet another repeated announcement, is completely at a standstill.
They are a situation that all our fellow citizens know, that they experience first-hand, and it is no coincidence that the responsibility for this disaster lies entirely with the Health Commissioner, Occhiuto, and the President of the Health Commission, Straface. But that’s not the only disaster.
Do we want to talk about Baker Hughes? It is right that citizens know that the mayor, for weeks, has been underlining, with competence and clarity, how the procedure is wrong. Nobody denies it (assuming that someone on the other side understands something about it) but nobody is committed to starting a procedure that is correct. Why? To then say that the mayor got in the way, when in reality he is doing nothing other than affirming legality and transparency?
It is right that citizens know that while the Municipality always works with new exemptions for historic centres, for years the Region has not issued tenders for 4 million euros to open new businesses in our two historic centres, despite repeated requests from the mayor.
It is right that we know that while the Municipality has built dozens of new water systems and networks, 7 million euros are still in the region for the engineering of the city networks.
It is right that we know that while the only intervention in recent years on the Crati embankment was carried out by the Municipality, for years the Region has been unable to use 8 million euros for the safety of the most important river in Calabria.
This is what we are faced with now. A jumble without any prospects made up of apparatuses that have devastated and are continuing to devastate the territory, coalesced with the sole aim of stopping a group and a mayor who are making Corigliano-Rossano emerge with competence, effort and passion. The past versus the future.
