Mountain podcasters at the Trento Film Festival: interview with the creator Clara Mazzi
Descriptive text here

The Trento Festival hosts for the first time some of the protagonists of the Italian scene of this new way of telling and spreading mountain culture: the podcast. Guests of the event entitled “Mountain Podcasters” will be Ragni di Lecco, Brocchi sui Blocchi, Climbing Radio, Andata e Ritorno, Vertigini, the sound producer of oSuonoMio and La montana che cura.

The moderation of the dialogue will be entrusted to Clara Mazzi, known on social media and, in turn, in the world of podcasts as “Libridimontagna”. In her podcast, Clara Mazzi selects autobiographies of those great mountaineers who wanted to share on the written page reflections on life that arose during their great undertakings. In the episodes the book is not read or told, but space is given to the “thoughts of mountaineers, offering food for thought on that fascinating topic which is mountaineering itself, or rather the free expression of oneself in search of, if not happiness, at least of the best compromise to live the happiest life possible”.

“The project was born in the time of Covid, in a period in which I suddenly found myself having a lot of free time – says Clara Mazzi – and I decided to start creating a podcast dedicated to mountaineering literature. It’s a project that was born with the lightheartedness of doing something small, thinking that the people interested would be limited in number, but then the podcast was actually a great success“.

“On the one hand, the festival had never yet presented and “officialised” podcasts as a new way of telling the story of the mountains – says Mazzi – and we were very keen because perhaps this presence was a little lacking at the festival, it is in all respects a great premiere. We are all very excited, happy and also very honored that the festival has accepted our proposal”. There will be ten of them on stage, a “large but not exhaustive” presence, comments the moderator. The interest in this type of narration shows how “it is possible to talk about mountains from completely different points of view“, in fact Clara Mazzi comments: “We have all embraced the podcast with great spontaneity and not only do we talk about different things, but we do it in completely different ways, there are those who read a text and dramatize it, there are those who want inform while also having fun. There is still great freedom in podcasting.”

The invitation to follow the evening dedicated to mountain podcasting, which will be held today, Sunday 28th at 6.30pm, is motivated by the fact that it is a “first time” within an event, such as the Trento Film Festival, which has proposed different forms of narration and dissemination since 1952 and also “because it is one of the rare occasions where you can see the faces of the protagonists of the various podcasts“.

The questions we will try to answer during the evening will be: “Who are mountain podcasters? What do they talk about? What does it mean to make a mountain podcast?”, we will talk about contents (from mountaineering to mountain therapy; from interviews with champions to mayors of remote valleys), production, programming and promotion.

Finally, the special guest of the evening will be Enrico Brizzi, the president of the jury of the Itas award.
