Umbrians preparing for the playoffs

The team that will face Cesena this evening will be a Perugia with no real ranking goals to reach: the Umbrians are in fact fourth, they cannot be reached by Gubbio nor can they hope to snatch third place from Carrarese.

In short, for the team coached by Alessandro Formisano (in the photo), this evening is an opportunity to look for a result that could be good for confidence and a high-level test in view of the playoffs.

To make the environment safer and give serenity to Formisano, the Umbrian club has renewed the young coach’s contract until 2027.

On the eve of the match, Toscano said that Perugia’s squad is perhaps the best squad in the group in terms of quantity and quality: in fact Formisano has a very large group, in which there is no shortage of highly experienced elements such as the defender Langella, the midfielder Bartolomei and the striker, Ricci just to name three.

In this context, however, one of those who have put themselves on display is Alessandro Seghetti, a striker born in 2004 who grew up in the Grifone youth sector, capable of scoring eight goals in his first season among professionals, seven of which were decisive for the result.

In Serie C the three-man defense is the most popular and Perugia does not deviate from the trend, Formisano sometimes opts for the five-man midfield, other times for the four in the middle of the field with two finishers behind the central striker. Looking at the numbers, we notice that Perugia have scored 44 goals so far: theirs, together with Arezzo’s, is the least prolific attack in the top ten of the table. The defense, however, with 33 goals conceded, remains behind only those of Cesena and Carrarese.

This evening, also due to the many players in the squad who are within a suspension, Formisano could opt to give space to some of those who have played less so far.
