Catanzaro, Vivarini: “We know how to face teams with a higher budget”
The technician of CatanzaroVincent Vivarinigave an interview to the microphones of TuttoSport on the next championship match against the league leaders Parma and to the Serie A dream that his boys are cultivating. Here are his words, reported by today’s edition of Tuttosport.
The words of the Catanzaro coach Vivarini
On the match against Parma: “I didn’t like the first leg. We had the great opportunities. We were at the beginning, we were discovering Serie B. We started with many doubts, but after that match there was more awareness. The defeat was healthy, because it made us fully understand what the difficulties of this tournament were. Parma is ready for Serie A“.
On his team’s way of playing: “We showed that the qualities we had in Serie C we could also have in Serie B. We need the right ideas and players. We have faced many difficulties with my staff, but everything I end up with is due to our work.”
On his idols: “When I was in Pescara, director Iaconi made me go and watch all the matches of the opposing teams: I studied the thoughts of many coaches. The rest comes from my nature, from the desire to always seek the quality of the game, studying who has brought projects with these ideas, especially in Spanish football. Cruyff is my source of inspiration: his football was total, modern, which went beyond the result.”
On the spring of Catanzaro: “I talked about it with the president: we are making investments in this sense. In Italy we have huge shortages at youth level. As a Catanzaro native I only have Iemmello, who has only just returned after an entirely absent career.”
On the South: “I like the southern mentality. They are passionate and attached to values, football is lived here. The public is indispensable: Catanzaro has football in its DNA. In the first leg against Parma, despite the 0-5 score, they continued to sing for us: this is a demonstration of love and awareness.”
On the Serie A dream: “At first I saw salvation as something impossible. Today we know how to face teams that have a budget 4/5 times higher. I prefer to live from day to day, because if you delude yourself and lose the light of reason, you risk becoming depressed. At the moment I’m calm: in Catanzaro there are all the requirements to feel good.”
