The first round of the playoff final of the Women’s Serie B basketball championship belongs to Virtus Cagliari. The girls coached by Fabrizio Staico, in fact, won 71-42 against Cus Cagliari.
The race. The home team started off with the right attitude and led the way at the end of the first quarter (23-15 score). Break decided in the second half, with the Virtussines flying to +23 in the 20th minute (42-19). In the third quarter, the reaction of the university players brought Striulli and her teammates back to -12 (51-39 at 30′) before a new break by the hosts who extended their lead to +29 at the final siren. Now on to game 2, scheduled for Wednesday, at the PalaCus in Sa Duchessa, starting at 8pm.
