Cultural association targeted by the Financial Police for illegal gambling

Taranto’s Guardia di Finanza has scored an important blow in the fight against illegal gambling, discovering tax evasion of around 3 million euros by a cultural association in the city. The operation is part of a broader context of supervision of the sector, aimed at preventing and repressing any form of illegality.

During the inspections, the agents identified and seized 11 unauthorized gaming machines, helping to outline a picture of systematic evasion of the single tax levy, a tax due on games based on betting and cash winnings. The association, operating under the guise of a cultural body, had subtracted over 12 million euros from taxation, hiding the real turnover generated by the irregular machines.

The Guardia di Finanza, through meticulous work of data cross-referencing and risk analysis, continues its control activities to protect the integrity of the gaming sector, preventing phenomena of illegal activity and safeguarding players, in particular the most vulnerable, from the pitfalls of illegal gambling.
