Serena Bortone let off steam during the last episode of «Chesarà…», the television program which also became famous following the Scurati case. The journalist and TV presenter wanted to defend the line of her format: «None of us would talk about fascism if we avoided praising the Decima Mas, making stamps on fascists, beating up a deputy in the Chamber. Signorelli, the former spokesperson of Lollobrigida who spoke using horrendous language. I would keep quiet, I wouldn’t talk about it anymore, it would just be enough to have a minimum of decency”, said Bortone. The program, which ended today, Sunday 16 June, was at the center of numerous controversies and the future of the journalist in Rai is not yet clear.

Sergio: she should have been fired
«Serena Bortone should have been fired for what she did and she wasn’t fired. She was not punished”, said Rai CEO Roberto Sergio, returning to the Scurati case at the Foglio Innovation Festival in Venice. On the other hand, the CEO had denied the existence of a TeleMeloni and had not shied away from questions about its future, ensuring that the relay pact with CEO Giampaolo Rossi remains standing. But what sparked discussion, as mentioned, were the clear statements about the presenter of «Chesarà…», who denounced the episode of the failure to air Scurati’s monologue on 25 April on social media and is therefore grappling with a disciplinary proceeding.
Sergio denied any censorship, explaining that he had sent “a WhatsApp to Bortone” with which he invited her “to broadcast the monologue” and that the writer chose not to go only because “he wasn’t being paid”. According to him, the news about a punishment reduction of the episodes of Bortone’s program was also false. «The schedules for next season will be presented to the top management on Friday next week – he added -. So it’s news that doesn’t exist at the moment.”
