Pills, vials. And the “mysterious” death of a man. A 34-year-old from Abbiategrasso and a 35-year-old from Massa Carrara were reported by the Vigevano police as part of an investigation into illicit trafficking of anabolic substances and narcotic drugs “peddled” in gyms in the Vigevano area.
The military investigation – reconstructs a note from the Pavia prosecutor’s office – began last month after the death of Antonio Gerace, a 52-year-old kick boxer who died at the Humanitas in Rozzano after feeling unwell in a sports facility. During the investigation, they wrote in black and white from the courthouse, “it emerged that the suspects, in collusion with each other, procured and possessed various quantities of anabolics and doping, some of which were close to expiry, to be sold illegally among gym-goers”
The searches began on Wednesday morning – between Pavia, Milan and Massa Carrara – and investigators seized 3,600 tablets, 84 vials of “possible doping substances” and 4 vials of “drugs with a narcotic effect” from the two, as well as 780 euros in cash .
The next step of the investigation will be to shed light on the death of the 52-year-old. “Investigations are underway to verify the causes of the 52-year-old’s death and – the prosecutor’s office clarified – the possible correlation of the death with the intake of prohibited substances”. Last May 21st the athlete sat at ringside telling some teammates that he wasn’t feeling well. Then he collapsed and the intervention of the other athletes with the defibrillator nor the transport to hospital was of no avail.
