This morning, at the “Villa Fonseca” military complex in Rome, the rotation ceremony of the Director of the “Celio” Military Polyclinic of Rome took place, between Lieutenant General Carlo Catalano and Major General Vincenzo Campagna. The ceremony, presided over by Logistics Commander of the Army, Army Corps General Mauro D’Ubaldi, saw the deployment of the War Flag of the Army Medical Corps, the Medal of the National Association of Italian Military Health and the participation of numerous civil and military.

The Logistics Commander of the Army, during his speech, thanked General Catalano for the precious contribution he provided as Director of the Military Polyclinic of Rome, underlining that “the Celio is a center of excellence for military healthcare, a point of reference for the Italian Defense and for our entire country system. The pandemic has taught us, like never before, the value of skills, the need to rely on expert and capable people to face increasingly complex threats. The adhering, far-sighted and determined action of General Catalano – continued General D’Ubaldi – has allowed all the staff of the Military Polyclinic to continue the work of ascending this prestigious institution, obtaining a long series of recognitions and results, inside and outside the military organization, which constitute and will constitute the fundamental basis from which to continue the path”.

During his speech, Lt. Gen. Catalano retraced the main stages of his over two years of work, during which the Celio effectively passed the critical phase of recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic, working tirelessly to reactivate all departments and all services, guaranteeing access to care for numerous patients, without any exclusion.

In particular, the transferring Director underlined how the professional skills acquired by the staff, highly appreciated also in the civil healthcare sector, have contributed to playing a crucial role in the numerous national and international missions in which he participated, providing medical support and healthcare aimed at guaranteeing the health of our men in uniform and of the population affected by conflicts and natural disasters.

Finally, Lt. Gen. Catalano expressed his personal gratitude for the constant collaboration and precious support provided by all the military and civilian personnel who work at the Military Polyclinic and which allowed the Celio to achieve all the assigned institutional objectives , confirming and improving the already high standards that have always characterized it.

Finally addressing Maj. Gen. Campagna, the transferring Director sent his best wishes for good work and ever greater success and satisfaction.
