William, the serious mistake in the official photo is not lost on fans: it’s unbelievable

A photo of Prince William has gone viral due to a detail that was not lost on fans: an unforgivable mistake.

In these last few days the Prince William stopped in Cardiff to discover innovations in the field of algae, but his visit was overshadowed by a detail that did not escape the watchful eye of royal fans. Kensington Palace shared an official photo of the prince as he headed towards his next engagement, but apparently there was an error that his subjects immediately noticed.

This is, for some, an obvious mistake that still needs to be fixed, regarding his royal title. Prince William in fact became heir to the throne with the death of Queen Elizabeth and the coronation of his father Charles. Here’s what it is.

An obvious mistake in Prince William’s monogram

With the passing of Queen Elizabeth II and the accession of King Charles, William became the new Prince of Wales. However, some bureaucratic details still seem to need to be sorted out. In the photo, as seen above The Mirror William is portrayed on board a train while observing the view, with a telephone and a red binder in front of him on the table. It is precisely this binder that shows the offending monogram: a “W” surmounted by a crown, which however it does not reflect his new status.

Royal fans, always attentive to details, have noticed that the crown above the “W” is still the reserved one to the children of the Prince of Wales, that is, to him and his brother when Charles was not yet king. The profile Gert’s Royals on Twitter highlighted the discrepancy, noting that William’s monogram should be updated to show the correct crown.

Unlike Prince William, King Charles introduced his new monogram shortly after ascending the throne. Carlo’s real figure includes one “C” surmounted by a crown, intertwined with an “R” for rex (Latin for king), and with the addition of the number “III” toInside the “R”. This new symbol has been chosen from several options created by the heraldry experts at the College of Arms and gradually replaced the insignia “ERII” of Queen Elizabeth on government buildings, documents, letterboxes, uniforms and official stationery.

Queen Camilla also has her own monogram, designed by the professor Ewan Clayton, which combines the initials “C” and “R” for Queen in Latin, used on letterhead, postcards and personal gifts.

Meanwhile, fans’ attention shifts to today’s event, Saturday 15 June, when the entire royal family will take part in the parade “Trooping the Colour”, the official celebrations for the king’s birthday. Prince William will likely be present with his three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. It is not yet clear whether Princess Kate, who is being treated for cancer, will be able to attend the ceremony.
