As usual for the months of July and August, editions from the CABA Archive are displayed in the window of the “G.Righini Ricci” municipal library. This year we have chosen the books of poetry and visual poetry by Oronzo Liuzzi.

Who is the poet? What is the purpose of poetry? The poet Oronzo Liuzzi answers these questions through the artist’s book entitled “Grammascritto” and the various poetic editions recently donated.

Liuzzi is a poet but also an artist and performer, a fact which could partly explain his broad ability to compose poetry by “playing” with words: with some he paints images and with others he affirms concepts linked to social, political and emotional reality. Verses with a strong emotional impact, which shape the variety of forms of life and patterns of relationships between men not only in the last period of the history of humanity. With poetry, Oronzo Liuzzi goes through the toxic moments of tensions and cruelties that afflict the destiny of man. As the author claims “Every day we endure useless spectacles. Seduced by the uncontrollable and wild market, hypocrisy, falsehood and injustice dominate and predominate our era. Many human beings perish in the explosion, but the main victim is humanity. Dialogue can change the way of life of man on this earth, life demands justice.”
The hope of radically changing our pace of life becomes an exercise in therapeutic self-management and individual responsibility, for a continuous solitary conquest of being. From the dark depths of the ocean Oronzo Liuzzi swims back towards the light. His reader will thus have the opportunity to compose Liuzzi’s varied poetic world, from the Seventies until the advent of the Internet, up to his most recent production.

Born in Fasano (BR) in 1949, Liuzzi lives and works in Corato (BA). He graduated in Aesthetic Philosophy at the University of Bari. He is active in the artistic-literary scene with numerous solo and group exhibitions at national and international level, artist books, object books, verbal-visual writing and Postal Art / Mail Art.
