Saturday 7 and Sunday 8 September The Colors of the book return to animate Bagno Vignoni, a thermal jewel of the Val d’Orcia, a UNESCO heritage site, with the 15th edition of the only Tuscan exhibition entirely dedicated to the valorisation of small and medium-sized publishing. The event is promoted by the Municipality of San Quirico d’Orcia, finalist in the 2023 Italian book capital, with the coordination of toscanalibri.it. The cartoonist Emilio Giannelli signed the illustration for the second consecutive year. Among the guests are journalists, writers, actors, activists, historians and television personalities who, on Saturday and Sunday afternoon, will take turns on stage in the garden of Piazza del Moretto with continuous presentations proposing their latest editorial news.

While waiting to see the program of the 2024 edition revealed, the preview of the Festival will be entrusted to the journalist Sigfrido Ranucci host of the investigative television program Report on Friday 6 September (6 pm in the garden of Piazza del Moretto) who will present his latest book The Choice (Bompiani) in Bagno Vignoni, interviewed by Carlo Bartoli President of the National Order of Journalists and by Michele Taddei vice president of the Order of Journalists of Tuscany. For the first time Ranucci talks about the path that led him here; he does so by choosing some fundamental investigations of which he reveals the background, but also by evoking figures – such as his father, an athlete and financier of great charisma, and his teacher Roberto Morrione, founder of Rai News 24 – who forged in him the ability to bring every choice to the end: because doing journalism in the field means making decisions that change the course of things forever, in an intimate and collective sense.

As usual, the program includes a market exhibition of used, antique and second-hand books in the iconic Moretto square with over twenty carefully selected booksellers and exhibitors from all over Italy. The Colors of the book” has the patronage of the Tuscany Region, the Province of Siena and the European Association of the Vie Francigene. It adheres to the Pact for Reading and has the collaboration of Librorcia, Albergo Posta Marcucci.

The Colors of the Book – Market exhibition Saturday 7th (3.00pm/10.00pm) – Sunday 8th (10.00am/8.00pm) September 2024
