Maxton Hall he conquered everyone, even winning the title of most watched series ever among Prime Video Original productions. An announced success given the engaging plot, which follows the tormented relationship of Ruby Bell (Harriet Herbig-Matten) And James Beaufort (Damian Hardung): inspired by young adult saga written by Mona Kasten – the books are called Save Me, Save You And Save Us – Maxton Hall will return with a second season as announced by the main actors on social media.
The series follows the plots of the books, which tell the seemingly impossible love story between a girl born and raised in a humble family and the scion of a dynasty who made his fortune in fashion. The six episodes of the first season released in May on Prime Video – as well as the first of the novels in the saga – tells the story of the transformation of the relationship between Ruby and James, first enemies, then magnets who cannot stay apart. There is in the background Maxton Halla private school where, in addition to Ruby who won a scholarship to enter, only the children of rich and nepo-baby.
Just like Bridgerton on Netflix, which is inspired by a saga of 8 books written by Julia Quinn and will presumably unfold over as many television seasons, Maxton Hall will also follow the imprint given by the author Mona Kasten in the novels: therefore at least three seasons are expected. And the intention, according to the first previews of the second chapter which should arrive in streaming no earlier than spring 2025, could have 8 episodes instead of 6.
Why we like Maxton Hall so much
In the second book of the Kasten saga, the relationship between Ruby and James has to deal with the social differences between their respective families and with a disappearance – the sudden death of his mother – which calls into question the balance laboriously achieved by the couple. We will see James fall into the abyss of alcohol and partying in reaction to the pain of mourning and Ruby distance herself from him, troubled by this descent into hell and at the same time happy for her admission to Oxford, the university she has always dreamed of frequent. Anyone who has seen the first season – I promise, we won’t give too big spoilers – knows that there is also a surprise pregnancy at stake, the consequences of which will have to be faced without fear.

The line of Kasten’s novels, which fall into the Young Adult genreis among the most appreciated by the new generations who have rediscovered literary and cinematic romance following these phenomena born on the web and which have become a TikTok trend. Maxton Hall tells a complex and passionate love story: the male protagonist is an apparently superficial boy who however hides a heart full of torment; Ruby, on the other hand, is proud, both of her origins and of her ambitions.
