On Saturday 22 June, the Diocesan Museum and Library of Alba await young and old readers for “Tutti al MAB. From stones to the book in SYMBOLS”, an afternoon of reading in CAA – Augmentative Alternative Communication.

The MAB operators will welcome families to the Diocesan Museum to tell them the stories of the stone lion of the medieval Cathedral and other stories translated into the symbols of Augmentative Alternative Communication.
The reading aloud workshop will continue in the MAB room of the diocesan library, at the Episcopal Seminary, to spend an afternoon together discovering new stories, illustrated and made of symbols.

Two shifts of activities will be organised: 3.00 pm and 4.30 pm.

Participation is free.

PARTICIPATION CONDITIONS: During the guided tour, groups with limited places will be created, therefore booking is mandatory.

The event is part of the ALL MAB project, started last year by the Diocesan Museum Foundation thanks to the contribution of the 8xmille with the aim of promoting inclusion and participation in the three diocesan institutes, the Museum, the Archive and the library. The operators of the MAB of Alba have acquired the basic skills for the creation and correct use of AAC (Augmentative Alternative Communication) books thanks to the training carried out by the staff of the PAIDEIA Foundation of Turin.
In the Diocesan Library, on the ground floor of the Episcopal Seminary, the MAB Room has been created, a welcoming and colorful space in which to host all children and young people who want to read new stories made of symbols and drawings. The Library has thus joined the Books for All project, the network of libraries in Piedmont created by the Paideia Foundation to offer tools, specific knowledge and opportunities for sharing and disseminating books translated into symbols to encourage accessible reading for all children. This year the Books for All shelf has been enriched with the purchase of new books which are available to families, educators, therapists and teachers in the area for use on site or through loan, but in the MAB Room there they are also multimodal and multisensory books.
The service is free and access is by reservation by calling 345.7642123.
