Since yesterday, the sculptures by Manolo Valdés, protagonists of the exhibition, have been found in Piazzetta San Marco, and beyond. Las Meninas in San Marco, which will last from 27 March to 16 June and will take place between Piazzetta San Marco, Riva Ca’ di Dio and the Arsenale.

The Spanish artist, born in 1942, winner of the Nacional de Bellas Artes España award, is one of the protagonists of the contemporary scene. His creations have been the subject of numerous national and international exhibitions and preserved in the most important museums and private collections. This year, through the Contini Art Gallery, he has entered into a commercial agreement with Vela spa which will allow him to exhibit fifteen of his works – from the “Las Meninas” series, priced at around 2-300 thousand dollars – in some of the places most evocative of Venice. Twelve Queen Mariana and a monumental one Infanta Margaret were placed in Piazzetta San Marco, while the work Mariposas, was exhibited along Riva Ca’ di Dio. Diadem he will instead be placed at the Arsenale. Valdés, as part of the exhibition, has chosen to donate one Queen Mariana to the collections of the Municipality of Venice, without restrictions on positioning and use.
