“I had enough.” These are the words that Bill Wyman used to explain why he left the Rolling Stones in 1993 after a thirty-year career together. In an interview published by Mirror, the former Stones bassist continued with a list of reasons: «It had been half my life and I thought “I want to do other things too”. I wanted to do archaeology, write books, have a photography exhibition and play charity cricket. When I was on tour I read about ancient cultures and took photographs.” And she comments: “I had this whole other life to live.”

Lately Wyman has reunited with his former bandmates. It happened on the last album, Hackney Diamondswhere he contributed to the song Live By the Sword, the first recording with the band since 1991: «It was Andrew Watt’s idea», Ronnie Wood had said, «none of us were there when Bill recorded. But Andrew told us we had a lot of fun.”

“I left the band in 1991 but they didn’t believe me,” Wyman continued in the interview. “They refused to accept it. At least until 1993. They were preparing for the ’94 tour when they said to me: “You’re gone, right?”. And I said, “Yes, two years ago.” They accepted it and I left in ’93.”
