Mara Venier returns with Sunday in the afternoon of April 28 with an interesting audience of guests. Among these also Lory Del Santo who told Zia Mara about her career and private life. The actress today says she feels at peace but she doesn’t forget her furious arguments, every day, with her mother. She who she has never felt loved by. «As a child I simply tried to understand the world because no one explained it to me», she underlined.
The story
The showgirl spoke about her difficult childhood and her relationship with her parents. Lory Del Santo had a childhood marked by her mother’s pain over the loss of her husband at just 25 years old. A tragedy that affected her relationship with her daughters. «I had a trauma as a child because the nuns spoke in dialect – explained Lory Del Santo -. From that moment on I never spoke in dialect again. As a child I simply tried to understand the world because no one explained it to me. I have never been a victim of fate, when you are born into a particular family you just have to understand what is happening. My mother never believed me, in fact when I told the truth she hit me. I thought that the right way to live peacefully was to tell a lie. I never had a doll when I was little. At Christmas I received a mandarin as a gift. My mother was poor but I learned to be happy with little.”
Lory Del Santo brings with her enormous pain, triggered by the loss of her children. She had four but today, only one, Devin, is still alive. «I see everything as a film and everything has happened to me – Lory explained in tears -. I lost three children and it’s a terrible thing. The image is of me lying on the ground. I couldn’t stand. But then I said to myself: “Do I have to lie down my whole life?” No. So I got up. Who helped me? My family definitely didn’t. I understood that my son had a problem but no one ever suggested anything to me. He had a strong bond with his older brother. The fathers weren’t there while I thought of them all.”
