why it was attacked – Libero Quotidiano

A 37 year old woman was seriously injured Sunday 23 June after being mauled by wolves in the zoo Thoirynear Pariswhen she entered an enclosure.

The attack occurred around 9 in the morning. According to initial information, the victim, who had spent the night in a hotel in the park, had gone to do something jogging. According to a witness, the woman “entered a wolf enclosure, crossing two security systems, a moat and an electrical device, designed to prevent the animals from escaping.”

Injured “in the neck, calf and back”, she was taken to hospital and her life is in danger.

The woman “crossed the reserve fence on foot” which is only accessible by car, she told AFP Christelle Bercheny, CEO of Wow Safari Thoiry. The victim was then attacked by three wolves. Bercheny said the injured woman was “conscious and stable” when she left the park.

The public prosecutor of Versailles Maryvonne Caillibotte stated that in this area “vehicles can enter and exit and there are electrified signs that limit access to animals”, but these signs “do not concern humans”, explained the director. She added that signs outside this area remind people “the rules of survival” to follow in the park.

“We are analyzing all the circumstances that may have led to this accident”, concluded the director, adding that an internal investigation is underway and that at the moment she has “no evidence” of a technical or human failure. “I am not able to say whether she was the one who made a mistake or whether the report was not made correctly,” explained the prosecutor. At that moment, “medical assistants were able to intervene very quickly to save her and give her first aid.”
