Paris. 5 coffins found at the Eiffel Tower with the French flag on them: “French soldiers in Ukraine”. Three arrested

Yesterday morning five coffins with the French flag on them were found in front of the Eiffel Tower, a provocative act towards Macron who has repeatedly expressed his intention to send his soldiers to fight in Ukraine

The coffins were filled with plaster and covered with a French flag, details which according to investigators should be interpreted as a pro-Russia gesture. The authors of the provocation are a Bulgarian, a German and a Ukrainian, who were tracked down by the police and arrested. The investigation will have to establish “possible foreign interference” in the organization of the action.

The first to be stopped by the police – near the Eiffel Tower – was the driver of the van used to transport them. The man said he was “paid 40 euros to transport the men and the load”. He would have arrived from Bulgaria. Two others, of Ukrainian and German nationality, were stopped while they were about to take “a bus to Berlin” at Bercy station, east of Paris.

The investigators hypothesize the existence of a link between this episode and another – recent – for which “foreign interference” was suspected: the tags of the “red hands” drawn on the night between 13 and 14 May on the wall of the Holocaust memorial in Paris, an event for which three people who fled abroad are suspected.

In October, after the start of the war following the Hamas attack on Israel, some facades of buildings in and around Paris were daubed with Stars of David. A Moldovan couple was arrested and accused of being the perpetrators, but the French authorities blamed the action on the Russian services. For both of these two cases, the Foreign Minister, Stéphane Séjourné, spoke of “executors paid to destabilize and take advantage of the divisions in French society”.
