The first evening of this Monday in June is undoubtedly catalysed by the Croatia-Italy match, the football match which airs at 8.30pm on Rai 1, valid for the 2024 European Championships. A match that Italy must at least draw in order to move on to the next stage. Films to watch on TV tonight
Dragonfly – The sign of the dragonfly
The first film of the evening that we recommend is Dragonfly – the sign of the dragonfly, which is available at 9.31pm on Rete 4. The story is that of Joe Darrow (played by Kevin Costner) a doctor from Chicago whose life is brightened by the presence of his wife Emily (Susanna Thompson), a pediatric oncologist who decides to leave for Venezuela to help less fortunate children. Although she is in the seventh month of pregnancy, the woman does not want to escape from her responsibilities and her passions: unfortunately the trip turns into tragedy when the woman is the victim of an accident and loses her life. Her husband, devastated by the news, decides to go and visit his wife’s patients, whose body has never been found. For the doctor it will be the beginning of a journey that is not only physical, but also spiritual, since it seems that his wife wants to communicate with him from beyond the grave.
Lemon bread with poppy seeds
Perfect title to catch up on in the summer, it airs at 9.11pm on Canale 5 Lemon bread with poppy seeds. The story is that of two now adult women, two sisters who were separated during adolescence and who have not seen each other for many years. Their lives, their careers and even their romantic situation changes when the two protagonists receive an inheritance from a woman they don’t know: a bakery to run on the island of Mallorca. The Balearic landscape and hard work will allow the two sisters to rebuild a relationship that seemed lost forever.
The Twilight Saga: Eclipse
At 9.24pm on Italia 1 the saga born from the pen of Stephenie Meyer continues to be broadcast: in fact it is available The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, third chapter of the love story between the vampire Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson) and Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart). After staying away in the previous chapter, New Moon, now Bella and Edward must face the threat posed by the vampire Victoria (Bryce Dallas Howard) but also the problems of their relationship, threatened by the relationship that Bella has established with the werewolf Jacob (Taylor Lautner) when Edward was gone.
Love forever
The film airs at 9.10pm on La5 Love forever. Directed by Richard Attenborough, the film recounts the writer’s youthful years Ernest Hemingway (interpreted by Chris O’Donnell), focusing on the period that the man spent on the Italian front of the First World War and then in the hospital, where he bonded with a nurse (Sandra Bullock). The love story experienced by the writer is the one that Hemingway would later pour into the pages of his masterpiece Farewell to Arms.
Totò and Marcellino
Another film on TV tonight in the rich schedule of free-to-air channels is Totò and Marcellino, which airs at 9.05pm on Cine34, the channel entirely dedicated to Italian cinema. Born in the wake of the film’s success Marcellinus bread and wine, the film features the showman as the protagonist Toto in the role of a thief with a heart of gold who decides to pose as a child’s uncle, until Marcellino’s real uncle arrives to turn the situation upside down.
Contagious
The last film available on TV tonight is Contagious, available this evening at 9.25pm on Iris. The story is that of a dystopian future in which a virus has decimated humanity, forcing large cities to draw up a list of strict rules to prevent the population from turning into zombies.
Among those affected there is also the young Maggie, who however is allowed to return home to her father (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to spend the last days of their lives together. However, things don’t go as planned at all.
