One-Punch Man, has Murata already revealed the ending of Saitama’s story?

Over the years the series of One Punch Man born as a webcomic written and illustrated by ONE and then became a manga thanks to its collaboration with Yusuke Murata, it has acquired more and more audiences, also tackling more serious themes while maintaining that underlying foolishness that has so struck readers, of which Saitama is the greatest exponent.

The protagonist hero gradually began to play an almost marginal role, given his incredible power, giving space to the development of other characters, and while the manga continues with rather relevant clashes and implications, some fans have proposed a rather interesting theory about the ending of the series. The conclusion, in fact, would have been partially anticipated by the designer, Yusuke Murata, and by the description of his work.

Just to have a reference of what was discussed on Reddit, here is the translation of the official description of the series signed by Yusuke Murata: “My name is Saitama. I’m a hero. My hobby is heroic deeds. I have become too strong. And that makes me sad. I can defeat any type of enemy in a single blow. I lost my hair. I lost all my feelings. I want to experience the thrill of the battlefield again. I would like to encounter an extremely powerful enemy. And I’d like to defeat him with a single punch. That’s because I’m One-Punch Man.

In particular, the penultimate sentence was examined, where Saitama expresses the desire to be able to knock out with a blow the most powerful opponent he faced, who, according to those who hypothesized the theory on Reddit, would be God. Saitama’s return in such a clash could finally make him the symbolic hero, the perfect hero in everyone’s eyes. To support this theory there are also the words of Cosmic Garou, according to whom Saitama would be the only one capable of mastering the powers of God without coming into direct contact with him, as when he manages to travel through time thanks to the abilities received from Garou.

Such an idea also took shape in the fanmade project entitled One-Punch Man: The Fight of Gods, where Saitama finds himself having to face God. Before saying goodbye, let’s remember that ONE expressed his opinion on the comparisons between Saitama and other shonen heroes, underlining their futility. What do you think of this theory?
