I don’t hide my amazement and annoyance due to his presence on that news program to the point of leaving me speechless. After listening to the beginning of the debate and realizing the direction it would take next, I decided to change channel.
From the first lines I understood that it would be an interview similar to a soap opera, without cross-examination or in any case sweetened. I’m sorry to say: Mentana disappointed mefor having given the floor to Meloni, without her having apologized for the fact that every other day – like other members of her majority – she pours out insults and insults towards La7 journalists.
Someone pointed out to me that La7 is a commercial television and therefore Meloni’s interview falls within the scope of business. However, they should explain to me what increase in advertising contracts Meloni’s appearance obtained. No! I don’t agree with the fact that Meloni’s presence alone is able to increase advertising revenues. It is worth reiterating, even in front of commercial TV, that the professional dignity of journalism should not be commodified and trampled on for the purposes of audience.
Having said that, I remain firm on my positions, namely that La7 should have invited Meloni to make an apology and not in a news programme, but in specific programs such as ByTuesday, Clean Sweep or Eight and a Halffor the purpose of conducting a thorough cross-examination, given that it appears to be the same allergic. In short, it would be necessary not to invite people only with a specific commercial purpose and therefore I did not like it what happened.
I remember, for example, that another public TV journalist who, to increase the audience, hosted the scion of Totò Riina on his program a few years ago and allowed him to praise his father who was all about home and family. The aforementioned journalist had forgotten that the “model father” painted by his son had been guilty of horrendous crimes. It must be recognized that Meloni is very shrewd and I dare say good at knowing “place” his work and therefore if you agreed to be present at Mentana’s, you certainly welcomed the opportunity offered.
In concluding, I take this opportunity to say that I did not appreciate that revenge carried out on a cold plate Caivano, towards De Luca, even if he had uttered an offensive word towards him. I believe that a Prime Minister, in his institutional capacity, should maintain a decorous demeanor for the position he holds. But this is often forgotten.
