first day of closure, the situation on site

The closure of Via Borgovico has been triggered: the barriers were positioned this morning around 8:15 at the height of Villa Olmo and in Piazza Santa Teresa to prevent cars from taking the Nino Bixio towards Monte Olimpino.

The situation this morning at Villa Olmo

Unavoidable queues for this first day of construction. Along Via Nino Bixio the traffic was difficult due to a “blockage” in Piazza Santa Teresa, then as time went by the situation improved. For those coming from Cernobbio or from the road to San Fermo, however, there will be no queue. Finally, there were reports of cars lining up to leave the city and travel through Borgovico in a one-way direction towards Cernobbio.

Several drivers who were coming down via Bellinzona, not being informed about the closure of Borgovico, found themselves unprepared at Villa Olmo. This is why at the two roundabouts of Villa Olmo and Santa Teresa, in addition to the traffic controllers, the local police are also present to give information to drivers and monitor traffic. Road signs have also been placed along the “circle”, specifically at Villa Olmo, at the Monte Olimpino roundabout in front of the Iperal and at Santa Teresa.

Also on site were the mayor Alessandro Rapinese, the councilor for public works Maurizio Ciabattoni and the councilor for civil protection Michele Cappelletti, as well as the director of public works Luca Noseda.
