ROME (ITALPRESS) – They had sought and studied this first victory for a long time, and finally at the Rally Due Valli, after the misfortunes of the past rounds, the first seasonal success in the Suzuki Rally Cup arrived for Giorgio Fichera and Enzo Colombaro. The expert Sicilian driver built this result test by test, without making mistakes and always remaining one step ahead of the others, and at the end of the weekend, taking into account the withdrawal suffered in the PS1 of Dallapiccola-Andrian, he relaunched himself in the race towards the single-make trophy, which after 4 rounds is tighter than ever. On such long tests, among the most demanding for cars and crews of the entire season, with sharp cuts, suffocating heat and gravel and dust, in fact, in second place under the arches of the Arena was the senator of the Suzuki Rally Cup Roberto Pellè, paired with Luca Franceschini. The driver from Trentino left everyone speechless with a monstrous time in the last special, a performance that earned him both the overtaking of Alessandro Forneris and the top spot in the Japanese single-make series, of which he is now once again the leader with 81 points thanks to Dallapiccola’s mistake, only two points behind.
Fichera, thanks to the victory, puts both at 71 points, promising sparks for the next scheduled rounds. The young under25 Forneris navigated by Vincenzo Torricelli thus saw a well-defended 2nd place slip away from his hands at the last breath, who while he was firmly behind Fichera, after having also won two tests, gave a slight touch that made him slip to the lowest step of the podium. A performance to frame for Forneris, who confirms himself as the second force of the under25 and who also gets closer to Dallapiccola. In the overall trophy the first 5 positions were all occupied by Suzuki Swift Sport Hybrid of the Ra5h class, and 4th place was obtained after a good race by Davide Bertini paired with Luca Vignolo, after having made the difference in the second part of the route. Fifth finally, at 16.3″ from Bertini, one of the many under at the start, Samuele Santero flanked by Nadir Bionaz. In the Racing Start classification, the access category to the world of rallying, victory instead came for Jean Claude Vallino, aboard the Suzuki Baleno shared with Sandro Sanesi.
The young under25 was second in this ranking until almost the end, but right on the last PS the leaders Varesco-Benedet retired due to a banal mechanical problem, leaving the field free for Vallino to enjoy another great evening of celebration. Second thus passed in the splendid Piazza Bra, with the background of the opera, the gentleman driver Marco Soliani, navigated by Domenico Corradi, who closed his race with a good advantage over the Vitali family crew. The young Stefano navigated by Maurizio won the podium among the Boosterjets, with the ranking that now sees him in 5th place behind Soliani, while Vallino flies to 56 points.
Among the two women at the start of the 4th round of the Suzuki Rally Cup it was Silvia Franchini, flanked by Loredana Zanet, who prevailed with a 17″ advantage over Alice Poggio and Luca Migone. The latter had also gone off the road on Friday evening, thus losing a lot of precious time, but on the last special stage they demonstrated their abilities with a great 2nd class time. Franchini, on the other hand, ran consistently throughout the race, always setting his usual good pace.
