“With a lump sum of 6,000 thousand euros per home, flood-stricken citizens are able to do very little to repair the damage suffered. For movable property damaged by the devastating flood that hit Emilia-Romagna, we had asked for adequate aid so that citizens would be able to provide for the restoration of kitchens, new appliances, furniture: all essential and necessary things. To be appropriate and sufficient, it is necessary to revise the Reconstruction Decree upwards so that it provides for aid of 10,000 euros for the room used as a kitchen and an additional 5,000 euros for each of the other rooms, up to a maximum total amount of 30,000 euros”. This was stated by the Romagna senator of the 5 Star Movement Marco Croatti, on the sidelines of the press conference during which the opposition groups presented the amendments to the Reconstruction Decree regarding reimbursements for movable property damaged in the flood in Emilia-Romagna.
“After a year, the compensation procedures are very slow, those who had the economic capacity have started again, the others are still in a situation of serious criticality. And certainly the compensation provided by the Government is totally disconnected from reality. Then there are – adds Croatti – numerous buildings that, even in the absence of damage or with slight damage, are in conditions of serious hydraulic or hydrogeological risk and that for this reason must be relocated, with contributions to be assigned on the basis of suitable parametric costs to be defined with a specific provision of the Extraordinary Commissioner. What happened in Romagna remains in the eyes. This is certainly not the way to treat a territory that immediately got back on its feet. Politics must provide serious answers”.
