Don Luigi leaves Pray: yesterday the farewell of the whole town
Pray therefore celebrated Don Luigi Sacchi yesterday, who concluded his pastoral mission in the town. In the afternoon, mass was celebrated in the presence of Bishop Roberto Farinella, followed by refreshments offered by the parish community.
Since the beginning of March, the parish has been entrusted by the diocese of Biella to Don Carlo Borrione, as Don Sacchi – who had been a guest of the Opera Sacerdoti Invalidi in the Diocesan Seminary of Biella for some time – has left his position in the community upon reaching the age limit.
Devoted and tireless priest
Born in Pavia in 1937, Don Luigi moved to the Biella area in 1951. He entered the seminary at the age of 20 after graduating in chemistry from the “Quintino Sella” industrial institute in Biella. Ordained a priest, he was first assistant parish priest in Cossato, then led the parish of Pray since 1 May 1970. For more than 30 years he also taught religion to middle school children in the area and coordinated the activities of the oratory .
He worked hard for the community, in the restoration of the ancient churches of the town and in the consolidation of the most recent church dedicated to Santa Rita.
