Great results for Libertas Atletica Forlì in Castelfranco Emilia in the Regional Allievi Championships. The star was 17-year-old Fabrizio Caporusso from Cervia – he is in the third year of the Cervia Higher Education Institute – who won the 100 meters with a remarkable time of 10”48, finishing with a 50 hundredths advantage over Ripa from Rimini and 61 over Tentoni from Cesena, third.

Fabrizio Caporusso, credited with the best time (10”69), achieved the third best time ever in Italy among the Under 18s. The Italian record belongs to the Tokyo Olympian in the relay, Filippo Tortu, who in 2015 ran the 100 in 10”33, but Caporusso’s time remains a very notable one.

This time trial increasingly opens the doors of the youth national team (it would be his first call-up) to the Romagna sprinter of the Forlì sports club, precisely for the next European Championships of the category in Banská Bystrica in Slovakia, from 18 to 21 July, as his coach, Alberto Donati, explains: “Caporusso is currently 5th in the European ranking of the category and 19th in the world ranking. However, the next Italian Youth Championships in Molfetta will decide which athletes will be called up for the Europeans. Championships that we will face with specific preparation to define some technical details that already made the difference in Castelfranco”.

After having won the title in the 100 meters, Caporusso also did the double in the 200, in which he obtained a consistent 21”60 (he was the best of the participants with 21”62), clearly preceding the Reggio Emilia native Liccardo (22”55) and again Ripa (22”87).

Elisa Cortesi then wins by a landslide in the javelin, with a distance of 43.96 meters, ahead of Vincenzi from Cesena (37.88) and Tagliaferri from Faenza (37.26). Cortesi, a 17-year-old from Forlì, attends the third year of the Liceo Scientifico di Forlì, majoring in sports, and she too is a candidate for an Italian jersey for the next European Championships in her category: in the continental ranking she occupies 13th place.

Other notable results come from Andrea Bartolini who wins gold in the discus with an excellent measure of 45.53 meters, beating the other Forlì athlete from Edera Zanelli (41.61) and the Reggio Emilia native Shani (41.39). Bartolini doesn’t stop and also obtains bronze in the javelin throw (48.25 meters), while in the same competition Luca and Andrea Franco place respectively 4th (48.15) and 7th (39.30). The latter is 9th (29.78 meters) in the hammer throw, while Gabriele Perugini (born in 2008) is 6th in the 1,500 meters in 4′ 26” 74.
